Set up DNS at Porkbun

Add the eoinbox DNS records to a domain that uses Porkbun's nameservers.

Menus change. Porkbun updates its dashboard from time to time, so button and menu names may differ slightly from this guide. Look for the DNS settings of your domain; the records you need are always the same. Your eoinbox dashboard shows the exact values and checks them for you.

Find the DNS settings

  1. Sign in to Porkbun and open Domain Management.
  2. Find your domain and click DNS (shown as Edit DNS records when you hover over the domain).
  3. Use the form at the top of the DNS page to add records.

Filling in the form

  • Type: choose the record type.
  • Host: leave empty for the domain itself. Otherwise type the name from the table, such as _dmarc or eo1._domainkey. Porkbun adds your domain after it.
  • Answer: the value or target from the table, without quotes.
  • Priority: for MX records, 10 for mx1.eoinbox.com and 20 for mx2.eoinbox.com.
  • SRV: put 0 in Priority, and in Answer type weight, port and target separated by spaces, for example 1 993 mail.eoinbox.com.
  • TTL: the default is fine.

Remove default records

New Porkbun domains often have default records:

  • MX records fwd1.porkbun.com and fwd2.porkbun.com for Porkbun's email forwarding. Delete them when you switch to eoinbox, and turn off email forwarding for the domain.
  • An SPF record for the forwarding service. Replace it with ours, or merge if you still send through something else.
  • Parking records (an ALIAS or CNAME to pixie.porkbun.com). These are for the website, not mail, and you can leave them.
