Set up DNS at OVHcloud

Add the eoinbox DNS records to a domain whose DNS zone is hosted at OVHcloud.

Menus change. OVHcloud updates its dashboard from time to time, so button and menu names may differ slightly from this guide. Look for the DNS settings of your domain; the records you need are always the same. Your eoinbox dashboard shows the exact values and checks them for you.

Find the DNS zone

  1. Sign in to the OVHcloud Control Panel.
  2. Go to Web Cloud → Domain names and select your domain.
  3. Open the DNS zone tab.
  4. Click Add an entry for each record.

Filling in the form

OVHcloud asks for the record type first, then shows a form for it.

  • Sub-domain: leave empty for the domain itself. Otherwise type the name from the table, such as _dmarc or eo1._domainkey.
  • Target: the value or target from the table.
  • End hostnames with a dot. In OVHcloud, a target without a final dot is treated as a name inside your own domain. Type mx1.eoinbox.com., mta-sts.eoinbox.com., eo1._domainkey.<id>.dkim.eoinbox.com. and so on, each with a dot at the end. TXT values do not need a dot.
  • MX: priority 10 for mx1.eoinbox.com. and 20 for mx2.eoinbox.com..
  • TXT: choose TXT (not the SPF helper) and paste the value. OVHcloud adds the quotes.
  • SRV: fill in Sub-domain _imaps._tcp, Priority 0, Weight 1, Port 993 and Target mail.eoinbox.com..

Remove OVHcloud's default mail records

A new OVHcloud zone usually contains MX records for OVHcloud's mail service (mx*.mail.ovh.net) and an SPF record with include:mx.ovh.com. When you are ready to switch:

  • delete the old MX records;
  • edit the SPF record: replace include:mx.ovh.com with include:spf.eoinbox.com, or keep both if your OVHcloud web hosting still sends mail (for example contact forms).

Changes to an OVHcloud zone can take a few hours to apply.
