Set up DNS at Namecheap

Add the eoinbox DNS records to a domain that uses Namecheap BasicDNS.

Menus change. Namecheap updates its dashboard from time to time, so button and menu names may differ slightly from this guide. Look for the DNS settings of your domain; the records you need are always the same. Your eoinbox dashboard shows the exact values and checks them for you.

These steps apply when your domain uses Namecheap BasicDNS (the default). If you use other nameservers, edit DNS there.

Find the DNS settings

  1. Sign in to Namecheap and open Domain List.
  2. Click Manage next to your domain.
  3. Open the Advanced DNS tab.

TXT, CNAME and SRV records

In the Host Records section click Add New Record:

  • Host: @ for the domain itself, otherwise the name from the table, such as _dmarc or eo1._domainkey. Namecheap adds your domain automatically.
  • TXT Record: paste the value without quotes.
  • CNAME Record: paste the target into Target.
  • SRV Record: Namecheap asks for Service (_imaps, _submissions or _jmap), Protocol (_tcp), Priority 0, Weight 1, Port and Target mail.eoinbox.com.

Click the green check mark to save each record.

MX records

Namecheap keeps MX records in a separate Mail Settings section further down the same page.

  1. In Mail Settings, choose Custom MX from the drop-down.
  2. Add @ → mx1.eoinbox.com with priority 10.
  3. Add @ → mx2.eoinbox.com with priority 20.
  4. Save.

Choosing Custom MX turns off Namecheap's free email forwarding and removes Private Email MX records, if you had them. Only do this when you are ready to receive mail at eoinbox.

Existing SPF record

If a TXT record starting with v=spf1 exists (for example from Namecheap email forwarding), edit it to include include:spf.eoinbox.com, or replace it if you no longer use that service.
