Set up DNS at Gandi

Add the eoinbox DNS records to a domain that uses Gandi LiveDNS.

Menus change. Gandi updates its dashboard from time to time, so button and menu names may differ slightly from this guide. Look for the DNS settings of your domain; the records you need are always the same. Your eoinbox dashboard shows the exact values and checks them for you.

These steps apply when your domain uses Gandi's LiveDNS nameservers (the default for domains at Gandi).

Find the DNS records

  1. Sign in to Gandi and open Domain from the menu.
  2. Select your domain.
  3. Open the DNS Records tab.
  4. Click Add record (or Add) for each record.

Filling in the form

  • Type: choose the record type.
  • Name: @ for the domain itself, otherwise the name from the table, such as _dmarc or eo1._domainkey.
  • Hostnames in values: Gandi uses zone file rules, so a hostname without a final dot is read as a name in your own domain. Type mx1.eoinbox.com., mta-sts.eoinbox.com. and the DKIM targets with a dot at the end. The form usually reminds you.
  • MX: priority 10 for mx1.eoinbox.com. and 20 for mx2.eoinbox.com..
  • TXT: paste the value. Gandi adds quotes if they are missing.
  • SRV: priority 0, weight 1, the port, and target mail.eoinbox.com..

If you prefer, Gandi also lets you edit the zone as text in zone file format. Use the same names and values, with the trailing dots.

Remove Gandi mail records

If you used Gandi's mail service, the zone has MX records pointing to Gandi (spool.mail.gandi.net, fb.mail.gandi.net) and an SPF record with include:_mailcust.gandi.net. When you are ready to switch, delete those MX records and replace the SPF include with include:spf.eoinbox.com. Also remove any mailboxes or forwards you set up at Gandi so they do not compete with eoinbox.
